Resignation of Tyler accepted at May 9, 2019 meeting
At the May 9, 2019 meeting of the Mayor and Council, Council Member Gerry Tyler submitted his resignation from the Council effective June 30, 2019. Tyler has served on the Council since 2007 when he was appointed to the position by Mayor Reitmajer to fill a seat vacated by Craig Breunig.
To fill the vacancy, Mayor Johnson will submit a name to the City Council for appointment to the vacated position. Tyler represents Third Ward, which includes the area of Wahoo located east of Chestnut Street and north of 5th Street. To be considered for the position, an individual must reside in Third Ward, and must be a registered voter. The Mayor will interview parties interested in serving and will make a recommendation to the Council for approval.
The qualified candidate, if approved by the Council, would serve the balance of the term until December 10, 2020. The Council meets twice a month on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays. Occasional special meetings are called as needed. As spelled out by ordinance, all Council members receive $2,000 per year for serving.
