About Wahoo


 Rich in history and heritage, the pride in Wahoo and Saunders County forefathers can be seen in various historical sites and events:

  • Saunders County Museum and Park
  • annual Christmas on the Prairie, with historical entertainment and displays
  • ox-bow branch of the Mormon Trail travels through the county

Recreation and Culture

 For those interested in recreation, athletics, and cultural activities, Wahoo's facilities and events provide a variety of entertainment.

  • Wahoo boasts a range of 25 miles or less to many attractions - Mahoney State Park, SAC Museum, Henry Doorly Zoo's Wildlife Safari Park, Memphis State Park, Two Rivers State Recreation Area, Caboose Park, Czechland Lake, Branched Oak Lake, Fremont Lakes, historic Haymarket district in downtown Lincoln, Memorial Stadium (home of the Cornhuskers!), and Haymarket Park (home of the Saltdogs and Cornhusker baseball)
  • the Wahoo Civic Center offers recreation for children, adult league sports, aerobics, an Olympic-size indoor pool, and indoor racquetball courts
  • Outdoor facilities - the new Aquatics Center, golf course, baseball and softball diamonds, and 6 city parks
  • Saunders County Campgrounds with hookups for 80
  • annual events such as the Wahoo Rodeo, Saunders County Fair, Polka Fests, Wahoo Country Music Show, Coin Show, Swap Meet, Wahoops, Boo In Wahoo, downtown Holiday Lighting, and Christmas on the Prairie
  • Wahoo Senior Center provides meals, recreational activities, and transportation services
  • Saunders County Museum has displays which include personal, collectible, and one-of-a-kind items from Wahoo's Five Famous Sons


Wahoo maintains a highly respected school system that develops children at an early age. It offers a variety of services for students with special needs.

  • Public: provides services for toddler through high school with or without identified needs. Preschool and Headstart program, a new elementary school, Wahoo Middle/High Schools, and an alternative school
  • Parochial: St Wenceslaus Catholic Elementary School and Bishop Neumann Central Catholic High School
  • Region V (residential, vocational, and in-home training)
  • located within the area are 4 universities, 6 colleges, and numerous trade schools
