OFFICE ASSISTANT

THE CITY OF WAHOO is seeking an individual for the role of Office Assistant.

This is a full time position, responsible for performing a wide variety of general clerical duties in assisting the City Administrator, City Clerk, Human Resources, and Building/Zoning Administrator. This role assists in customer service at City Hall, working directly with customers, either by answering questions or directing them to the correct area. This includes maintaining customer data accounts, processing records and payments, drafting correspondence, assisting with collection of various city licenses, and other duties as assigned. Key requirements for this position include the ability to interact with the public on a variety of issues with effective communication skills, both oral and written, attention to detail; and the ability to multi-task in a busy and often interrupted environment. A qualified applicant should have a two-year degree with a major in one of the following areas: Accounting, finance, business, administration, public administration, or a related field OR any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and/or abilities. Two years of responsible office experience or closely related work is preferred.

Pay scale for this position begins at a rate of $20.0262 per hour and tops at $26.0374 per hour over nine steps.
